November News

I have made an intention to keep my blog up to date with interesting news. As you can see, in the past I have not been too consistent with posting to my blog!

Lots of great things are happening with Galena Bay Novelty Fabrics - we have a big new classroom and are currently hosting a variety of quilting and sewing classes.  The Quilting for Beginners was a big hit and all students made awesome "Lucky Stars" quilts from some really great collections of prints. I will be hosting another Quilting for Beginners session of classes in the New Year, beginning mid-January 2012.

The tote classes also were a huge success with Kathy O'Malley teaching both sessions. Again all students were able to finish their totes and each one was a work of art in itself. The tote pattern used for the class (Scrap Bag Cuties by Whistlepig Creek Productions) is still so popular that Kathy has agreed to teach another set of classes in the New Year. I will post all the new classes scheduled for winter 2012 by mid-December.

Another very popular class is our Free Motion Quilting taught by Shawn Bailey. Shawn is set to begin the third session of Free Motion Quilting today with another full class.  Again this class will be offered in the New Year as there are so many keen quilters looking to get down to some serious free motion quilting!  Shawn Bailey is Powell River's top long arm quilter and her work is of excellent quality.

We have one more class scheduled for November 2011 and this is the "Spicy Spiral Table Runner" with Georgie Brewer instructing. This very unusual and attractive table runner is very easy to make, using 8 fat quarters plus a backing fabric. Again this class will be offered in the New Year.

Our selection of fabrics and notions and other sewing/quilting products is steadily growing and I am continually publishing new products to the web site. Be sure and visit the web site to see what's new -  www.fabricandwoodideas.com.
